About DataRoot Labs
DataRoot Labs is an AI research and development firm founded in 2016, with its R&D office in Kyiv (DataRoot Labs LLC) and a representative office in Delaware (DataRoot Labs Inc.). It is led by co-founders Max Frolov, CEO, and Yuliya Sychikova, COO. The work is organized in three labs: an Agentic Lab for conversational and voice agents, orchestration, retrieval and evaluation; a Deep Learning Lab for model training and inference optimization; and an Engineering Lab for the SaaS, APIs and pipelines around the models. It also runs DataRoot University, a free online ML school.
Its featured case studies describe agent architectures in detail: a financial document copilot routing between GPT-4o and Claude Opus, an HR assistant calling into an HRIS across more than 20 countries, a developer workflow assistant on LangGraph and AWS Bedrock. Clutch shows 4.9 from 23 reviews describing AI and ML builds from 2020 to March 2026, recent ones covering data reasoning agents and live conversation interfaces. DesignRush shows 4.3 from 1 and Google 5.0 from 47. Clutch gives a $10,000 minimum and $50-$99 an hour.
Every case study is anonymized and none states a measured result, and the named client logos have no described project. The Google rating comes largely from students of its free course. Team size is 10-49 on Clutch and 50-99 on DesignRush, two Kyiv addresses appear across sources, and the US office is a registered agent style mailbox. There is no partner tier, ISO 27001 or SOC 2, and it publishes no prices.

Our verdict
DataRoot Labs suits a funded startup or CTO-led team that wants a dedicated R&D group to build LLM agents, retrieval or custom models into its product, at Ukrainian engineering rates.
The case for it is the Clutch record and the technical detail: 23 reviews at 4.9 describing AI and ML builds over six years, the newest in March 2026, and case studies that set out multi-model routing, function calling and evaluation tooling. Clutch's $50-$99 hourly band is low for this kind of work.
The caution is that none of the agent work can be checked against a named client or a figure. Every case study is anonymized, the logos on the site describe no project, and the 47 Google reviews come largely from course students.
A non-technical business buyer who wants a packaged agent or automation should look elsewhere, and a buyer for whom wartime continuity in Kyiv is a risk should ask how delivery is protected.
Pros
- Clutch 4.9 from 23 reviews describing AI and ML builds from 2020 to March 2026
- Case studies document agent architectures: multi-model routing between GPT-4o and Claude Opus, HRIS function calling, LangGraph with Langfuse and Neo4j
- Clutch shows $50-$99 an hour and a $10,000 minimum
- Three labs covering agents, model training and the engineering around them, operating since 2016
Cons
- Every case study is anonymized and none reports a measured result, so the agent work cannot be checked against a named client.
- Google's 5.0 from 47 reviews comes largely from students of its free Data Science Fundamentals course and says little about client work.
- Engineering is in Kyiv, which raises time zone and wartime continuity questions for a US or UK buyer.
- Built for technical R&D with founders and CTOs; a non-technical buyer wanting a packaged agent or automation is outside its engagement models.
- Publishes no prices; Clutch's most common project is $50,000-$199,999.
